Tom Wood's TWSC-RRCR Rear Two Joint Driveshaft RR Classic
The rear driveshaft on a Range Rover Classic carries power from the transfer case to the rear differential every time your Rover moves. Over time the universal joints wear, and the result can be clunking when you shift, vibration on the road, or play you can feel by hand. The Tom Wood's TWSC-RRCR rear two joint driveshaft is a built to order replacement that keeps the proven factory layout while giving you a stronger, fully serviceable shaft.
A conventional two joint shaft uses a single universal joint at each end with a slip yoke to allow for suspension travel. It is the same basic design Land Rover used from the factory, and it remains the best choice for a Rover running at stock height or with no lift. If your Rover is lifted and the driveline angle has increased, Tom Wood's double cardan designs are better suited to those steeper angles.
Every Tom Wood's Land Rover shaft uses Gold Seal 1310 series universal joints. The 1310 series is the most widely used universal joint in the world, found in countless Ford, GM, Jeep, and Dodge applications, and it is very close in size and strength to the factory Land Rover universal joint. If a joint ever needs replacing, you can find one at nearly any driveline shop or parts counter.
Before ordering, check the differential end of your current rear shaft. Some Range Rover Classic models left the factory with a Rotoflex rubber coupler at the rear differential instead of a four bolt flange. If your Rover still has the Rotoflex coupler, you will need the STC4858 flange kit, which replaces the three bolt Rotoflex flange with a four bolt flange that this shaft bolts to. Rovers already fitted with a four bolt rear differential flange need no additional parts.

[FAQ]
Should I choose a two joint shaft or a double cardan shaft?
If your Rover is at stock height or has no lift, the conventional two joint shaft is usually the best choice. As lift height approaches 76mm (3 in), a double cardan shaft handles the steeper driveline angle better.
My Range Rover Classic has a rubber coupler on the rear differential. Will this shaft fit?
Not on its own. The TWSC-RRCR bolts to a four bolt differential flange, so a Rover still fitted with the Rotoflex rubber coupler needs the STC4858 flange kit to convert the rear differential first.
What information do I need to provide when ordering?
Each shaft is built to order, so a flange to flange measurement is required. Enter it in the notes at checkout. Your order will not ship until we receive it.
