STC4378 FlowKooler Hi Flow Water Pump Land Rover V8
This is the FlowKooler high flow water pump for the Rover V8, our upgraded replacement for the Genuine Land Rover STC4378. The aluminum Rover V8 has a long reputation for running warm, and slow speed work makes it worse, since low engine speed means low coolant flow and limited airflow through the radiator right when you need cooling the most. This pump is built to address exactly that.
The difference is in the impeller. FlowKooler machines it from billet aluminum with an increased vane count and a tighter plate to impeller clearance, so it moves more coolant and builds more head pressure than a standard pump, especially at low rpm. Moving coolant through the block, heads, and radiator more quickly gives the system more chances to shed heat, which helps hold temperatures down in stop and go traffic, while towing, and during slow technical off road driving. The impeller carries a Type II Class II military grade surface coating that resists corrosion from old or contaminated coolant.
This pump fits the V8 EFI engine across the Discovery I and Discovery II, the Range Rover Classic and Range Rover P38, and the Defender 90, covering the 3.9, 4.0, 4.2, and 4.6 liter versions of the Rover V8. It is a direct replacement for STC4378 and also covers the STC4434 and STC1693 numbers. Always install a water pump with a fresh gasket and clean sealing surfaces for a leak free seal.

[FAQ]
Will this replace my STC4378 water pump?
Yes. This FlowKooler pump is a direct replacement for STC4378 and also covers the STC4434 and STC1693 numbers. It fits the V8 EFI engine in the Discovery I and II, the Range Rover Classic serpentine belt and P38, and the NAS Defender serpentine belt Rover V8.
How is this different from a standard replacement pump?
A standard pump matches the factory impeller. This FlowKooler pump uses a CNC machined billet impeller with more vanes and a tighter clearance, so it moves more coolant and builds more pressure, particularly at low rpm. That extra flow is what helps keep the Rover V8 cooler during slow off road work, towing, and hot weather idling.
Does it come with a gasket?
Yes. The water pump gasket is included in the box, so you are ready to install right away. Just make sure the sealing surfaces are clean and dry before you set the pump.
