MUC8754 Seat Recline Handle Knob Defender 90 110 130
The MUC8754 is the front seat recline handle knob for the Land Rover Defender, the small plastic knob on the end of the lever you pull to tilt the seat back. It is a part almost nobody thinks about until it snaps, and then it is the difference between adjusting your seat and wrestling a bare metal stub.
These break for the same reason every time. The knob is plastic, the lever is steel, and the knob takes a hard pull every time somebody climbs into the back or wants the seat back a notch. Years of sun through the side glass make the plastic brittle, and one cold morning it splits. Once it is gone the exposed lever is sharp, unpleasant to use, and catches on clothing.
Replacing it is a two minute job and costs almost nothing, which is why this is one of those parts worth buying two of and putting one in the glovebox. There is one on each front seat, so a Defender needs a pair if both have gone.
Fitment spans nearly the whole Defender run. On vehicles built from 1987 to 2006 it is the recline knob on the front seats with headrests. On 2007 to 2016 vehicles it is used on the front seat backs, and on some 110 and 130 rear seat frames as well.
Sold individually, so order the quantity you need rather than assuming a pair.
FAQ
What exactly is this part?
It is the knob on the end of the front seat recline lever, the piece you take hold of to tilt the seat back forward or set the backrest angle. It is sold as a single knob.
Which Defenders does it fit?
Defender 90, 110 and 130 from 1987 through 2016. On the earlier vehicles it serves the front seats with headrests, and on 2007 onward vehicles it also appears on some 110 and 130 rear seat frames.
Do I need one or two?
There is one knob per front seat, so a vehicle with both knobs broken needs two. They are sold individually.
