This is the FlowKooler 180 degree low temperature thermostat for the Rover V8 engine, our favorite replacement for the Genuine Land Rover ETC4765. It does the same job as the factory thermostat in the same housing, but it opens at a lower temperature, 82°C (180°F) instead of the factory 88°C (190°F), so coolant starts circulating to the radiator sooner and the engine settles at a cooler, steadier operating temperature. That extra margin is welcome on the Rover V8, especially in hot climates, in stop and go traffic, or when the engine is working hard off road.

FlowKooler builds this thermostat around a precisely calibrated thermal responsive wax pellet in a heat conducting copper cup with a stainless steel piston, all housed in a stainless steel assembly with a self cleaning, self aligning valve. It is an OE quality unit engineered to hold your engine within a sensible operating window, not so cold that the engine management keeps the mixture rich. At 180°F it sits right at the practical floor for these engines, cool enough to help, warm enough to keep fueling and economy where they belong.

This thermostat fits the Rover V8 across the Discovery I from 1994 to 1999, the Range Rover Classic from 1987 to 1995, and the NAS V8 Defender. It is a direct replacement for ETC4765, so if your Rover runs the V8 and uses that thermostat, this drops straight in. The gasket is included.
