The 5LTCK is our complete Genuine Land Rover timing chain kit for the 5.0 liter V8, covering the Discovery 4 LR4 L319, the Range Rover L322 and L405, and the Range Rover Sport L320 and L494. Every one of the 34 pieces in the box is a Genuine Land Rover part, and the kit is built so that a timing job gets done once, properly, without a parts run halfway through.
When a 5.0 V8 starts rattling on a cold start, it is usually the timing chain tensioners and the blades they push against. Replacing the chains alone and reusing tired tensioners, guides and blades is the shortcut that brings the Rover back on a hook. This kit takes that decision away by including all of it.
Kit contents, 19 part numbers and 34 pieces in total. Two camshaft timing chains, LR032048. Two camshaft timing chain tensioners, LR051008. Two camshaft timing chain tensioner blades, LR051013. One camshaft timing chain guide for the right hand side, LR051011, and one for the left hand side, LR051012. One auxiliary drive chain, LR032087, with its tensioner, LR087162, its guide, LR012110, and its guide pin, LR011063. One upper camshaft lubricating jet, LR032714, and one lower camshaft lubricating jet, LR059161, with two retaining screws, LR010904.
For sealing, the kit includes the left rocker cover gasket, LR010789, the right rocker cover gasket, LR010882, four right hand spark plug seals, LR011220, and four left hand spark plug seals, LR014345.
The hardware is in the box as well. Two bolts for the camshaft timing chain tensioners, LR011272, three M6 by 38mm (1.50 in) bolts, LR011064, and three M8 by 45mm (1.77 in) bolts, LR011522.
This is a job for a shop with the right timing tools and the patience to use them. The engine has to be locked at the correct position before anything comes apart, and the tensioners have to be reset correctly on the way back together. If that does not describe your driveway on a Saturday, hand this kit to someone it does describe. The parts are the easy half.
Everything here is Genuine Land Rover, not a lookalike. On an engine where the cost of the repair is almost entirely labor, the one thing worth not economizing on is the parts you are paying someone to install.
