IIDPRO GAP IIDTool Pro Land Rover Diagnostic G3 and G4

The GAP IIDTool Pro, part number IIDPRO, is the unlocked version of GAP Diagnostic's Land Rover diagnostic system, and it ships as two hardware units rather than one. The G4 handles Diagnostic over IP and CAN bus, which is what newer Rovers need. The G3 covers CAN bus plus the LIN and DS2 buses that older platforms use.

This is the tool for a shop, or for someone who looks after a fleet of Rovers rather than one. The standard IIDTool locks its advanced functions to a single registered VIN. The Pro is unlocked. Any function, any vehicle, any time, with no license to buy and no VIN to nominate.

Two units sounds like more than you need until you work across a range of years. A 2008 Discovery and a 2023 Range Rover do not speak the same language, and no single piece of hardware covers both completely today. The Pro sidesteps the question by giving you both.

What you get is full diagnostic access across every system on the vehicle. Fault read and clear. Live data. Service routines including the service reminder reset. Manual component activation. Air suspension height adjustment with guided calibration. Key programming. CCF editing. On the Pro none of it is rationed.

Firmware updates are free for the first year. After that GAP charges an annual fee of 500 GBP for the latest Pro firmware, which brings new service routines, new vehicle coverage and new enhancement options. It is not mandatory. If you let it lapse the tool keeps working exactly as it did, you simply stop receiving support for newer vehicles.

In the box you get both hardware units, a USB cable, a quick start guide and a storage box. A mobile device is not included. The app runs on Apple devices from iOS 11 onward and on Android devices with a Bluetooth 4.2 transceiver running Android 8 or higher, and GAP is blunt that low cost generic Android handsets rarely work properly. Updating the tool needs a Windows PC running XP or later, or a Mac.

What is the difference between the Pro and the standard IIDTool?

The functions are the same. The restriction is not. A standard IIDTool enables its advanced programming functions on one registered VIN, with more licenses available for a fee. The Pro is unlocked and works on any supported Rover with no licensing at all.

Why does it come with two units?

Because coverage is split across hardware generations. The G4 carries Diagnostic over IP for newer vehicles, the G3 carries the LIN and DS2 buses that older ones use. Owning both means the full supported list is available to you rather than half of it.

What happens if I do not renew the annual subscription?

Nothing stops working. The tool keeps every function it had on the day the subscription lapsed. You stop receiving new firmware, which means no coverage for vehicles released afterward and no new service routines.
