Heavy-Duty Steering Arms Kit DA5501 Series II/IIA/III

  • $238.00

The factory steering arms on Land Rover Series vehicles were built to a workable standard for general use, but anyone pushing their Rover hard off road knows that the original hollow steel construction has its limits. Rock strikes, hard articulation, and the cumulative stress of uneven terrain can bend or crack standard arms, leaving you with compromised steering at exactly the wrong moment. The DA5501 Heavy-Duty Steering Arms Kit from Britpart solves that problem with solid steel bars that replace both the track rod and drag link arms as a complete unit, delivering a meaningfully stronger steering assembly that handles off-road punishment without compromising on-road precision.

Each arm in the kit is constructed from solid steel rather than the pressed or hollow profile used in standard fitment parts, making them significantly more resistant to bending under side loads. The arms receive a zinc plate finish that protects against rust and corrosion, which is particularly important for these exposed components on a Rover that sees mud, water crossings, or simply the salt and grime of everyday driving. The zinc coating extends service life considerably compared to bare steel arms and means the kit holds up well even on vehicles that don't see regular deep cleaning.

The DA5501 kit ships complete with four track rod ends, two RTC5867 and two RTC5868, so no separate sourcing of ends is required to complete the installation. The complete kit approach also means you can tackle alignment in one session rather than hunting down individual components separately.

[FAQ]

Does the DA5501 kit include the tie rod ends, or do I need to source those separately?

The kit ships complete with four tie rod ends, two RTC5867 units and two RTC5868 units. Everything needed to complete the arm replacement is included in the box. The rod ends are also available individually for future servicing, so when a joint eventually wears you can replace just the ends without having to purchase the full arm kit again.

Why are these arms better suited to off-road use than the standard factory steering arms?

The standard Series steering arms use a hollow or pressed steel profile that is adequate for road use but vulnerable to bending under the lateral and impact loads that come with serious off-road driving. The DA5501 arms are solid steel throughout, which makes them far more resistant to deformation from rock strikes or hard articulation. The zinc plate finish also gives them meaningfully better corrosion resistance than bare steel alternatives, extending working life in wet and muddy conditions.

Do I need to have the steering alignment checked after fitting these arms?

Yes, a tracking check after installation is strongly recommended. Any time steering arms are replaced, the geometry of the front axle should be verified on a proper alignment setup to ensure the wheels are pointing correctly and that tire wear will remain even. The DA5501 is a direct replacement requiring no modification to fit, but alignment confirmation is standard best practice after any steering component change.
