Addicted Cooling Kit Discovery 2 L318 V8 Low Temp Thermostat
The Discovery 2 V8 has a well earned reputation for running warm, and this kit gathers the three upgrades that make the biggest difference into one package built specifically for the Discovery 2. Our friend Troy at Addicted Motors assembled the original Rover V8 version of this kit, and this is that same proven combination adapted to fit the Discovery 2 cooling system. Each piece is chosen to work with the others so your Rover runs cooler and steadier whether you are crawling slowly off road, sitting in summer traffic, or working the engine hard on the highway.
The kit includes three parts. First is the PEL500110G low temperature thermostat, a remote 82°C (180°F) soft spring unit that lives in its own housing between the hoses and opens sooner than the factory thermostat at roughly 88°C (190°F), so coolant starts moving toward the radiator earlier. Second is the FlowKooler high flow water pump, built with a CNC machined billet impeller that moves more coolant and builds more pressure than a standard pump, which is exactly what the aluminum V8 needs at low engine speed. It replaces the STC4378 pump and includes a gasket. Third is the Hayden severe duty fan clutch, a thermal unit that locks up harder as the radiator heats to pull far more air through the core. It replaces the ERR4996 viscous coupling.
Together these three parts attack the V8's tendency to run warm from every angle. The thermostat lowers the target temperature, the pump increases coolant flow, and the fan clutch increases airflow. It is a simple, proven combination and one of the best things you can do for the longevity of your Discovery 2.
One fitment note for the 2003 to 2004 4.6 V8. On those Rovers the standard fan will not bolt up to the new fan clutch, so we offer an alternative version of this kit that adds the earlier ERR4960 radiator fan blade. If you have a 2003 to 2004 4.6, choose the alternative kit so everything bolts together correctly, or reach out and we will make sure you get the right combination for your Rover.

Will this kit fit my 2003 or 2004 4.6?
The thermostat, water pump, and fan clutch fit the Discovery 2 V8, but on the 2003 to 2004 4.6 the standard fan will not bolt up to the new fan clutch. For those Rovers choose the alternative kit, which adds the earlier ERR4960 radiator fan blade so everything bolts together correctly.
Does the kit include gaskets, and is the thermostat genuine?
The FlowKooler water pump comes with its gasket in the box. The PEL500110G is an OEM quality low temperature soft spring thermostat in its own remote housing. Make sure the sealing surfaces are clean and dry and use fresh coolant when you put everything back together.
